Belmont North bathroom renovation by Sunshower: terrazzo-look tiles, walk-in shower and freestanding bath

HomeBathroom renovations

Bathroom renovations,
start to finish.

We strip the old room out, rebuild it, waterproof and tile it, and hand it back finished. Across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, from our base in Jewells.

The whole job,
one person running it.

A bathroom renovation brings in several trades. We take the job from demolition to the last bead of silicone, do the waterproofing and tiling ourselves, and bring in licensed plumbers and electricians for their part.

You deal with us the whole way through. Nobody has to chase the plumber or work out whose turn it is.

Bathroom by Sunshower: twin basins on a timber floating vanity under two arched mirrors, a frameless shower and a freestanding bath

Recent bathrooms.

A few jobs from around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. There are more on our Instagram.

Belmont North bathroom: terrazzo-look tiles to the ceiling, a walk-in shower with tiled niches and a freestanding bath under the window

Belmont North

A complete redesign. Terrazzo-style 600 x 600 tiles run up the walls, with tiled niches in the shower and above the bath and an LED shaving cabinet over the vanity.

3 weeks from start to finish

Valentine bathroom: back-to-wall bath under a tiled niche, a timber vanity and a backlit round mirror

Valentine

A back-to-wall bath under a long tiled niche, a timber vanity with a backlit round mirror, and large-format tiles on the floor and walls.

Charlestown bathroom: back-to-wall bath under the window beside a frameless shower, with large grey tiles on the floor and walls

Charlestown

A tired three-way bathroom. The old 900 x 900 shower became a 1000 x 1200, with a big niche inside it and another above the bath.

The electrician put in underfloor heating, a heated towel rail, new LEDs and a fan. The 600 x 600 floor tiles carry up one wall as a feature, with white 300 x 600s on the rest to lighten the room, and new colonial architraves finish it.

Garden Suburb bathroom: timber vanity under a backlit round mirror beside a frameless shower with a tiled niche

Garden Suburb

An original 1966 bathroom, gutted and laid out again. The bath, shower and vanity were all moved, and the shower and bath now share a wet area, which suits a young family whose kids splash the bath water everywhere.

The swinging door was swapped for a cavity slider.

Common questions.

Do you do the whole renovation or just the tiling?

Either. We run full bathroom renovations from demolition to handover, and we also take on tiling and waterproofing on their own.

How does a job start?

With a site visit. We look at the room and talk through what you want, then you get a detailed quote up front and help choosing tiles, tapware, the vanity and the screen.

Who does the plumbing and electrical?

Licensed plumbers and electricians we work with. We book them in at the right point and look after the job between their visits, so you are not organising trades yourself.

How long does a bathroom take?

It depends on the size of the room and how much is changing. You get the timing with the quote. As one example, the Belmont North bathroom above took 3 weeks from start to finish.

Can you change the layout?

Yes. In Garden Suburb the bath, shower and vanity were all moved and the door changed to a cavity slider. Moving fixtures means moving plumbing, so we work that out at the site visit.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Sunshower holds NSW contractor licence #385765C as a kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovator and a wall and floor tiler. You can check it on the NSW Government's Verify a licence service.

Which areas do you cover?

Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. We are based in Jewells.
